St Albans City Youth - Boys
The 18 East won 3-1 in the 2nd of the WFL League Cup against Hinton & Finchley Legends with Cain Joseph opening the scoring after a great bit of skill and pace as he slotted home the first goal. Lucas Martindale scored the second goal after good work from Tayler Fennel who making a welcome return to the team. In three minutes of the restart a 3rd goal was added midway through the second half with a great ball from Tayler Fennel finding Gio Basile in space on the right wing whereupon he found Lucas Martindale who notched his second goal of the match. Hinton pulled a consolation goal back late on but the Saints were in no danger of conceding any more goals. The man of the match went to Oscar James who had a good game in midfield.
The 18 East WHYL lost 6-1 at home in the league to Chorleywood Common Archers with Ross Andrews scoring the East's goal whilst defender was named man of the match.
Losing 7-1 at home in the League Cup to Chorleywood Common Gunners were the 18 South and scoring the goal for the South was Ross Weaver whilst Adam Pringle was named man of the match.
Playing Hinton & Finchley Revolution Heroes away in the 2nd round of WFL Challenge Cup were the 16 East and at half time they leading 3-0 but by the final whistle they had hit another five goals to go on and win 8-0. Ben Spencer opened the scoring whilst Harry Peter had notched four goals and then came George Fennel with two goals and finally Luke Smith popped up with one at the end. The man of the match went to Haydn Tominey-Smith.
The 16's E.J.A. lost 2-1 away to a good AFC Dunstable side in the League Cup despite taking the lead in the first half following a great cross from Joe Parrett which was finished off by a firm header by Billy Owen. The Saints remained comfortable during the rest of the first half but in the second period Dunstable came on strong an scored an equalising early on and then hit the Saints on the break late on to win the match with a minute to go.
The 16 Orient played Chorleywood Common Thunder and won 1-0 with a goal from man of the match Nick Curtis.
The 16 West lost away in the league to Croxley Green 6-1 with Aaron Peter scoring the West's consolation goal.
The 15 Orient won a entertaining match away at Eb Lions 3-1 with the Orient dominant in the first half which was rewarded with a Samuel Beasley goal. The lions fought back in the second half and scored an equaliser but Orient resserted themselves in the last 15 minutes with a headed goal from man of the match Thomas Van Winden to make it 2-1. The same player assisted in the third goal which was coolly finished off by Samuel Beasley with his second goal of the match.
With three new debutants in the 15 East side saw them go on and beat Harpenden Colts Magpies 5-1 with Saber El Bzioui scoring the Saints first goal. Harpenden pulled one back from the penalty spot which was a stonewall penalty before the East struck back with two goals from Mustaqim Boksh and one apiece from Jack Pendleton and Louis Postema to go on and win 5-1.The man of the match was shared between Freddie Collins, Louis Postema and Mustaqim Boksh.
Also in the League Cup were the 15's E.J.A. who were at home to Potters Bar and after going a goal down early on the Saints hit back to win 2-1. Jack McShane had a shot early on which went just wide of the far post.
A long ball into the Saints box saw their defenders saying "after you Cecil" and whilst they were doing that in nipped Aaron Witter to drive the ball past Billy Thomson and into the back of the net to give Potters Bar a 1-0 lead.
The young Saints tried to hit back and firstly McShane headed just wide and then Joe Vance curled a free kick which seemed destined for the far corner but a magnificent one handed save from keeper Josh Wood saw him push the ball away. Next Jamie Willing had goalbound shot blocked on the line whilst a Joe Vance lob was saved right under the crossbar and then McShane had a cracking drive tipped over the bar by yet another good save by Josh Wood.
Minutes later the Saints had scored an equaliser when Jamie Willing curled over a free kick to the far post whereupon Jack McSHANE came racing in to send a powerful header into the back of the net via the underside of the bar(his Mum, Lisa got really excited that she hurt her hand by smashing it on the pitch railings).
Joe Vance nearly made it 2-1 but his low drive was tipped onto the foot of the post by Josh Wood.
Early into the second half the Saints took the lead when a long kick upfield from keeper Billy Thomson found Jack McSHANE racing clear and although Josh Wood blocked his first effort he could do nothing as the second shot flew past him to give the Saints a 2-1 lead. Tezza of course shouted yippee!
The 15 West lost 11-1 at home to Aston Clinton Colts with the West's only goal being scored by Kai Hobbs with Matthew Mooney picking up the man of the match award.
In the Red Division saw the 15 South lose 4-2 after a closely fought match against Maccabi London Lions White and notching the goals for the South were Callum Cosgrove and Harry O'Toole.
Two goals from Alex Lawlor and 2 goals from Jack O'Rahilly plus singles from Sudjad Hussain, Tom Randall and Ben Wick saw the 14 Boreal beat Sun Sports 7-0.
The 14 South returned to winning ways with a hard fought victory over Bushey Falcons. Alex Laking Jerez scored the only goal of the game whilst James Justice was given the man of the match title for protecting the defence with a solid midfield holding performance.
Brandon Trainis and Dan Gant scored the goals that gave the 14 East Blue a 2-1 win in the League Cup over Highgate & Muswell Hill Fire.
The 14 North's injury woes continue as they started with a bare 11 players at home in a League Cup match against West Herts Youth Stags and within only a few minutes they were down to ten players and shortly afterwards they conceded their first goal. Their injured player returned back to the match just before half time but West Herts Stags made it 2-0 just before the break with a well taken free kick.
The second period was quite even and all the players gave 110% and despite the visitors scoring another goal the 14 North tucked one away themselves to finally lose 3-1. The goalscorer for the North was Mathew Radelat whilst Jamie Kerr picked up man of the match.
The 13 East beat St. Albans Rangers Harriers 9-0 in the League Cup with both Joe Poulton and Harry Thomas scoring two goals apiece. The other goalscorers were Callum Maguire, Wesley Mudziviri, Harry Dawe, Arjun Sansi and James Nash whilst the mam of the match went Sam Boca-Mapp.
Well the 13 West had a good win by beating Berkhamsted Raiders White 1-0 with the only goal being scored by Wout Tuyls and Dylan Laird being named man of the man.
Goals from Jake Berry 2,Jake Watkins, Jamie Roper and Tom Pinkham gave the 13 North a 5-2 away win at Edgeware Town.
The 12 South beat AC Finchley 2-1 with goals from George Dalton and Matthew Barwick whilst the star player was Cameron Choudhury.
Away to Chipperfield Corinthians saw the 12 Central win by eight goals to nil and leading the goalscorers was man of the man Matthew Penfold with a hat-trick. Scoring the other goals were Matthew Croston 2, Charl Mason, Oliver Taylor and Davide Iacobucci.
The 12 Boreal were at home to Watford Youth Sports Red and despite going a goal ahead in the first half from Freddy Penford the visitors scored an equaliser just before the break. In the second half their were opportunities for both sides but a brilliant strike from a Watford striker saw them go on and win 2-1. The man of the match went to keeper Matthew Hayhurst for saving the result many times and showing what a complete modern goalkeeper should do.
Marching to a second straight win were the 12 Victoria with a super 3-2 win over early league favourites Kings Langley. The Vics took the lead following a cool finish from man of the match Alex Strazza before extending their lead after a sweeping move that saw Oscar Bell cross for the predatory Kayan Joseph to slot home the second with a powerful half volley. Kings Langley fought back and scored two goals to make the score 2-2 but the Vics hit back with Oscar Bell breaking away from the halfway line to score with a scorcher into the top corner for a great finish to win the match 3-2.
In the WHYL Division 3 saw the 12 Orient lose 3-1 at home to Kings Langley Lions with Archie Bentley scoring Orient's goal whilst the man of the match went to George Ilari.
The 11 Arrows played Hoddesdon White away and scoring a goal for the young Saints was Cathel Gleeson whilst in the rest of the squad were George Robertson, Max Whelan, Callum Howells, Leo Negus-Roman,Luke Collins, Ben Pearman, Thomas Maher, Alfie Wollington, Jake Lee and James Dodd.
The 11 Dragons took part in a end to end match against Bury Rangers Black and getting on the scoresheet for them was man of the match Michael Napier scoring twice and on another day he could have had 7. Also scoring a goal was Dylan Norman with his first for the season.
Asa Stewart-Harris netted two goals for the 11 East in their match with Ryan Youth whilst Jake Cottingham and Will Antcliffe also got on the scoresheet. The man of the match went to Ollie Denyer.
Steven Tchoudi scored two goals for the 11 Central and he also picked man of the match in there game with Croxley Emeralds whilst Josh White added a third goal.
The 11 Romans playing Wheathampstead Pumas did not have a good day going forward but other than that they kept on battling to the end.
There were goals from Dewayne Mitchell, Zevik Cowell and Isaam Jamil for the 11 Spartans in their away match with Ware Youth Blues.
Playing Croxley Green Whites away saw goals from Jacob Nyamupingidza, Josh Ladyman and Tommy Morgan (did I hear that shout, that's my boy) for the 11 West in what was a very entertaining match between both teams.
There were plenty of goals in the match between the 11 South and Chorleywood Common Hawks. Scoring goals for the South were Danny Di Stadio 2, Josh Smith 2, and then singles from James Beasley, Ben Browning, Freddie Yeo, Max Butterworth, Sam Estell and man of the match Ian Carrasco.
Away at Hemel Aces Tigers saw the 11 Orient turn in a great team performance and score goals through Antonio Desiderio, Ollie Jay and Bertie Postema who got a brilliant hat-trick.
At home to Wheathampstead Panthers were the 10 South and there were plenty of in the match from both sides and scoring goals for the South were Raf Fortuna 2, Micah Onwuemena 2 and Thomas Denyer whilst the man of the match went to Rory Lynn.
At home to Frontiers Jaguars saw the 10 Centurions give thanks to both their keepers who took it in turn to go in between the sticks in each half and they were Patrick Powell and James McCluskey and they both had good games. At the other end there were goals from Noah West 2 and Matis Walton 2.
At home to Ware Youth Blacks saw the 10 East score a goal through Arthur Rennie-Sivell whilst the man of the match went to Arthur Vessey.
Away to Cuffley were the 10 West and scoring a goal for them was Freddie Stewart.
At home to Watton Youth Dragons saw the 9 East struggling to get use to the larger pitch but there is some mark improvement and all the boys played well. Squad; Nikhil Jagota, David Spears, Brian Baum, Will John, Leo Hooper-Walter, Harry Murphy,Toby Veitch,Ricky Roberts, Gabriel Olumnami and Tom Luckhurst(all played).
The Mid Herts Rural Minors League Red Division saw the 9 North take on Wheathampstead Wanderers Panthers and scoring a left footed hat-trick was Dylan Eccles. Other goals were scored by Olic Fan 2, Josh Cassidy 2, Zac Imam 2, Oliver Ajaegbu, Ted Stephens and Eddie Johnson following some great passing and finishing.
At home to Wheathampstead Tigers were the 9 West and popping up with goals for them were Oscar Roe, Jack Burke, Will Stone and Niall Rodrigues.
Away to Hertford Heath were the 9 South and scoring the goal for them was Ronnie Wilton whilst the man of the match went Daniel Tiffen.
The 9 Central at home to Ware Rangers Santos had a good match against them and scoring for the young Saints were Guy Kusman with a brace whilst both Josh Gibson and Hamish Cal popped up with a goal apiece.
Billy Stone scored the goal for the 8 Orient in their away match with Potters Bar Utd Black.
The 8 South played their first home match against Chars United with Findlay Seabrook having a great game playing with some neat skill and purpose.
Playing Potters Bar Utd White at home were the youngest Saints 8 West and scoring goals for them were Bertie Bachmann, Paolo Iacobucci and James Cox with Coiry Featherstone being named the star player.
The 18 Girls could only field ten players to illness and uni visits and were away to a very strong Kings Langley side. Despite some battling individual performances they slipped to a 7-1 defeat. The 18's goal was scored by Ellie Jenkins and the player of the match went to Shauna Smith.
The 16 Girls South had a fantastic game against Bishops Stortford and it was an end to end match with plenty of chances for both sides and the final score was 3-3 but it could have been 5-5. Alice Benson opened the scoring for the South after she burst through the middle and then slotted the ball into the bottom corner. Stortford though hit back with two goals to go 2-1 up with 2 well taken goals. Alice Benson said I not having this and once again she broke away clear through the middle and found the back of the net for the equaliser but this was not all as she sped past a defender and slid the ball under the Stortford keeper to give the 16 Girls South a 3-2 lead at half time. In the second period Stortford scored an equalising goal and play switched from end to end with both sides having chances and for the South saw Lauren Walker shooting just over the bar whilst Emily Sibley hit the foot of the near post. The points were shared bit it was a fair result for 2 great teams.
Away to Pro Direct Academy were the 15 Girls and they stormed to a 5-0 victory with the player of the match going to Sophie Veal. Scoring all the goals were Mathilda Finburgh with a brace whilst scoring a goal apiece were Jess Simpson, Mia Pinkham and Sam Farrer.
The 14 Girls lost 3-0 away to Bury Rangers.
The 13 Girls South won 5-0 away at Garston Pumas with all the girls having a brilliant game. Scoring a hat-trick was Rosie Littlechild whilst Jamie Curtain and Faine Harper picked up one one apiece. The player of the match went not just to one player but two and they were Rosie Littlechild and Orla Moss.
The 13 Girls North had too much of a good summer and were a little bit rusty as they lost their opening game of the season against away to Kinja Youth 8-0 but they will bounce back with the player of the match going to Kiera Ward.
Away to Hitchin Belles were the 12 Girls South and the score at half time was 1-1 and at full time it was 2-2 so nothing could divide both teams. Scoring for the 12 South were Isobel Corrigan and Maisie Humphreys with Jocelyn Rennie winning the player of the match award.
The 8 Girls Central played against both 9 Girls team in a series of friendly matches and they competed well and showed good team work in both defensive and attacking phase. Great goal from Olivia Wood and the player of the match was Sophea Bridge. Next up the 7 Boys.
