SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 6TH 1998.
St Albans City Youth Under 12's East were held to a 3-3 draw by Garston Boys with Harry HUNT 2 and Danny McCAFFERTY netting for the Saints.
Away to Bovingdon saw the Under 15's North come away with a 4-0 victory thanks to goals from Sam WILKINSON, Curtis JONES, John LYON and Gary BUCKATT.
The Under 14's West recorded a fine 3-1 victory against Herons and scoring the goals were Allister COLLINS, Iaian TURKENTINE and Scott TIMMINS.
Following a close game saw the Under 15's South defeat Harpenden Colts 2-0 with goals from Ben GRAHAM and Kevin WEBB.
The Under 17's sides played each other with the West team coming out on top against the East by two goals nil. An on strike for the West was Scott DUNN with a fine brace.
Despite a lot of pressure, the Under 13's North went down 1-0 away to Hemel Youth.
The Under 11's South lost 3-0 to Harpenden Colts whilst the Under 11's West went down 5-2 to Cassiobury Rangers with the Saints goals coming from Bob SINGH and Andrew GUARD.
Two goals from Adam HULL gave the Under 11's East a point against London Road in a 2-2 draw whilst Steve Kirikal had a brilliant game in the Saints
SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 13TH, 1998.
St Albans City Youth Under 10's North really turned on the style to defeat Woodhall Wanderers 6-0 in the League cup. Adam POTTER scored an excellent brace whilst there were singles from Lee FINDLAY, Louis Mac MILLAN, Russell GALLAGHER, and Billy UNITE.
The Under 10's South side had little luck away to Riverside Hibernian going down 3-1 with Max WOLKE scoring the only goal for the Saints.
Andrew GUARD scored five goals for the Under 11's West as they defeated Hemel Hempstead Blue in the Challenge Cup with Georgio LAMONICA and Matt AODAI completing the tally.
The Under 11's East nearly let the game slip after leading by four goals to nil but in the end, they finally had to settle for a 4-3 victory against Bushey. Adam HULL with three goals and one from Tom CLARK were the scorers for the East.
Michael LANGTON, Sam HATTON, Phil ADAMS, and Peter MASTRODDI were on the mark for the Under 11's South in their 4-0 win against Suffolk Youth in the Challenge Cup.
Both the Under 12's sides lost in the Challenge Cup with firstly the West losing 1-0 to Boreham Wood Red whilst the East went down 5-0 to Suffolk Youth following a poor performance.
A 4-0 scoreline was recorded by the Under 13's South as they defeated Cassiobury Rangers with the goals coming from James HARVEY 2, Jason BLYTH, and Dillion KING.
The Under 13's North also won 4-0 when they defeated Brookside away with Dominic MOONEY scoring two of the goals whilst both Adam JONES and Hegoi UROIN scored one apiece.
The Under 14's North lost 6-1 away to Princes Park with James HILL scoring the Saints consolation goal.
An early goal from Allister COLLINS was enough for the Under 14's West to defeat Boreham Wood Rangers 1-0.
Two long range strikes by Richard WHITE and Mark SHADBOLT gave the Under 14's East a good start in their match with Kodak Echoes but alas it was not to be enough as Kodak hit back with three goals of their own to win the match 3-2.
The St Albans Under 15's North made a fine comeback against Hemel Raiders after they were trailing by two goals and they clawed their way back for a great 4-3 victory with Tom FAIRBAIRN scoring the winner late in the game. The other scorers were Charles THRUSSELL, Sam WILKINSON, and Alex FREE with Curtis Jones having an outstanding game up front.
The Under 15's South also came back from being a goal down to overhaul Cassiobury Rangers 5-2 with the dynamic Greg DEACON scoring the equaliser. Scoring the other goals were the nippy Tom BEDFORD with an excellent brace whilst Kevin WEBB and Ben GRAHAM both scored one each.
Keeper Luke Atkins and midfielder Tom Sides both had good games for the Under 16's in their 1-0 win against Herons with Oliver RECORD scoring the only goal of the match with a very skillful shot from 20 yards.
SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 27TH, 1998.
St Albans City Youth Under 10's South hit back from three goals down to overhaul Garston Boys to win 4-3 with goals from Phillip ATKINS, John HEARN, Edward RIDGE plus one own goal.
Goals galore came from the Under 10's North as they won 11-0 against Chipperfield Corinthians with Louis MacMILLAN leading the way with a fine hat-trick. The other goals were scored by Alex OLCOT 2, Chris HASLAM 2 Adam POTTER 2 and Billy UNITE 2.
A James HEARN goal was enough to see the Under 12's West defeat Harvesters 1-0.
A solid performance from the Under 13's saw them defeat Harpenden Colts 4-2 with goals from Matt HANSON 2, Ryan GOODMAN, and Ian McCARTHY.
The Under 14's West were awarded three penalties against Willen Juniors scoring one and missing the other two, but they still went on to win 4-0. Allister COLLINS bagged a hat-trick including a penalty showing Nick MALHAM who also scored a goal and Iaian Turkentine how to convert penalties.
The Under 17's West turned on the style when they defeated Abbotts Youth 9-0 with both Mitchell PARRATT and Chris WYNCH scoring hat-tricks. The other three goals were scored by Dominic COLLINS, John TAIT, and Robert DAVIES all with one apiece.
Robert FEATHERSTONE scored the only goal for the Under 15's South in their 1-1 draw against Harpenden Colts.
In a friendly match saw the Under 18's beat Harpenden Colts 7-2 with the goals coming from Jon ARNOLD 2, Paul GOOM, Steve CHAPMAN, Steve SEEBY, Stuart MARKHAM, and Ross CARMICHAEL.
SUNDAY OCTOBER 18TH, 1998.
Two goals from Johnny MOORE gave the Under 16's a point in a 2-2 draw against Boreham Wood JSC.
A Curtis JONES goal gave the Under 15's North a 1-0 lead at half time against Whetstone but in the second half they fell apart to finally lose 5-1.
The Under 14's North lost heavily away against a Winchmore Hill side in an East Anglian Cup tie.
The Under 13's South came from a goal down against Evergreen to force an equaliser through Karl WARD and then win this cup tie 4-3 on penalties.
Three nil up after only seven minutes play saw the Under 12's West eventually defeat Boreham Wood Red 5-0 with three brilliant goals from Tom BARNARD and a fine brace from Charles SMITH.
The Under 11's South recorded a fine 7-1 win against William Morris in the Challenge Cup with goals from Michael LANGTON 2, Max GREY 2, Sam LYON, Tom OWEN and Robert BLYTH which was his first for the club.
Also, in the Challenge Cup were the Under 11's East but they went down 2-1 to a couple of late goals from Berkhamsted with Daniel BURROWS scoring for the young Saints.
A fine hat-trick from Adam POTTER plus two goals from Alex OLCOT and a single from Chris HASLAM gave the Under 10 North a 6-0 victory over Riverside Hibernian White at home in the Challenge Cup. Meanwhile the Under 10's South lost 2-0 to Riverside Hibernian Green in the League Cup.
The Saints top goalscorers of the day were the Under 15's South who won 20-0 yes twenty nil against Northside in the County Cup. Leading the goal scorers were Tom BEDFORD with 4 and Oliver FRANKS also with 4 with the other scorers being Dean PARSONS 3, Greg DEACON 3, Ryan HUGHES 3, Ben GRAHAM 2 plus one from Adam WALLACE.
Away to Potters Bar United also in the County Cup were the Under 14's East and they came away with a 10-1 victory with Luke TARRANT leading the way with six cracking goals. The other scorers were Shyam PARMAR with a hat-trick and Andrew DOHERTY with one.
Away to Reffley Youth(Kings Lynn) in the East Anglian Cup were the Under 14's West and they also reached double figures with a 10-0 scoreline with Nick MALHAM leading the way with a hat-trick. The other scorers were as follows, Craig FINLAY 2, Allister COLLINS, Matt Jones, Scott TIMMING, Iaian TURKENTINE and Daniel ADAMS with his first for the club.
In a one-sided Boreham Wood league match saw the Under 13's North beat Alexander Park B 14-0 at home with Dominic MOONEY scoring four of the goals whilst Raonull McKINNON also hit four goals as well. The other scorers were Danny BLYTH 3 and Mark DENBIGN 3.
The Under 18's came back from a goal down to defeat Broxbourne 4-2 at home in the County Cup with goals from Paul GOOM, Paul JEVON, Stuart MARKHAM, and a cracking 20 yarder from James ARMSTRONG.
In a match that swung first one way then the other finally saw the Under 17's East come out on top by four goals to three. The Saints got going after Jonathan JENKINS scored a cracking equaliser with a shot from close range into the roof of the net. Then Henry WILKINSON scored twice, the first after he outran the Nascot Wood defence before calmly firing the ball home. His second proved to be the winner after Tom CROWNE had netted a penalty to make it 3-3 before the late winning goal.
