THE NEW SEASON STARTS HERE. 9-9-2013.
The new season starts here, and it is the West who stats the ball rolling with a very convincing 4-1 home victory over Potters Bar Utd in a Yellow division league fixture. Playing some nice neat football saw there was never any doubt who was going to pick up all the three points. Scoring the goals for the West were man of the match Shay EMERTON with two whilst Matt CROSS and Kieran IRONS both popped up with one apiece.
At home to Hinton & Finchley Revolutions in the league cup were the 16 Warriors and by the final whistle saw them lose by the odd goal in five. It was an exciting match with end to end action throughout the whole of the game. Man, of the match for the Warriors was goalkeeper Matt Denton who frustrated the visitor’s numerous attacks by making some excellent saves. The warrior’s goals were scored by Ed ANDERS and Joe WEAVER.
Playing St Margaretsbury saw the 14 East storm to a 11-3 victory with the pick of the goals being a spectacular overhead kick from Joe VANCE. Scoring the other goals were Dan MILES 3, Harvey HOLMES 3, Cain JOSEPH 3 and Jake PENNY whilst Gio Basile and Ollie Barnett both shared the joint man of the match award.
In the county cup were the 14 South and after a very close match saw the South eventually bow out 4-3 against Whitehorn Wanderers. Man, of the match Ronan Marie MOUTOU scored two goals whilst another new signing Omar BOUNYAFE netted the other.
The 14 West had a county cup tie against Barmond Utd which saw them win 4-0 with two goals from man of the match Tom KERR and singles from Matty GALLAGHER and Khaled UDDIN.
Next up it was the 13 South in the county cup and they were at home to Fairlands(Stevenage) and by half time despite some fine passing football they had only Joe NEWTON's (now at Coventry City FC) goal to show for their efforts. In the second half it was a different story as they rattled in 6 more goals to go on and 7-0. The other goalscorers were Adam PRINGLE, Ross WEAVER, Harrison ARNOLD, Callum FURNESS. Fin BANKS plus another from Joe NEWTON. Central midfielder Tom Kellard was named man of the match and he also had a spell in the back four late in the game.
The 13 North played Ware Lions at home and at the break saw them leading 8-0 with the far post playing a big hand in the match with shots either hitting it and going in or the ball ending up running along the line which left the North players with a simple tap in. In the second half saw the North hit another 10 goals to go on and win finally 18-0 but credit must go to the visitors who kept pressing forward in search of a goal right up to the final whistle. Scoring all the goals for the 13 North were Matthew BREEZE with 7, Jack HUGHES 4, Harry SMITH 3, Dominic DEE 2, Rob McKee and Cameron SMITH which was his first goal for the team. The man of the match went Adam Roberts who had a brilliant 1st half performance in the midfield.
For the 13 Orient saw Finbar KING score four goals in their 5-1 away win at Sun Postal with Louie COLLIER hitting the fifth goal for the young Saints.
The 12 West got their season off to a winning start with an emphatic 5-2 away victory over Cuffley Youth in the preliminary round of the county cup. From the start the West knocked the ball around swiftly and they played some impressive football and they were rewarded with some well worked goals. Adam JOHNSON scored a great hat-trick whilst Will SKINNER notched the other two. There was some impressive wing play from Kishan Dhivar, but this was impressive display from the whole of the team, so they were all rightly named Man of the match.
At home to Bushey &Oxhey Panthers were the 11 Orient and after a very close game saw the visitors snatch a last-minute goal to win the match 4-3 in this county cup game. Scoring for the Orient were Ollie GILMOUR with two excellent strikes plus one for Jamie FOUNTAIN during this battling display from the whole team.
The 10 East Yellow in their match against Welwyn Pegasus dominated the play and were rewarded with three fine goals which were scored by Alessandro Di TROLIO, Charlie BATTLE and Jamie HILTON to record a 3-1 victory.
The 10 East Blue came back from trailing 2-1 down against Elite Feet by scoring two fabulous goals with some fine passing play to finally win the match 3-2. Scoring the 10 East Blue's goals were Jack JACOBS, Daniel GANT, and Nico MOHAN
Away to Ware Youth Clarets saw the 9 South win 4-2 with two goals from Nicholas BERMAN with the other goals coming from Mack GIBSON and Bayley BACON who was also named man of the match.
The Under 8's had three teams playing on this day and scoring goals for the 8 North in their friendly against Wheathampstead were James EVANS and Cadima-Mukasa LUSIOLA. The 8 East played Panshanger Lions with Jensen DEAN scoring a goal for them whilst Charlie Brunt was named man of the match. The final third Under 8 team were Victoria and their new signing Oscar Bell had a excellent match down the right wing.
The 14 Girls South, who were away to Harvesters, fought back from being 2-0 down after ten minutes play to make it 3-3 with goals from Amber SMITH 2 and Shamica POWELL. Late in the game though saw the South run out of steam and Harvesters who are a very good side went onto win 7-3. The player of the match for the 14 South went to Ellie Jenkins.
Away to current county champions Hitchin Belles were the 13 Girls South and they turned in a good display by scoring 4 goals only to lose eventually 8-4 despite a stirring performance from the 13 Girls South. Scoring for the South Girls were Katie HENNESSY 2, Jade PARKER plus a penalty from Kira CLOSE.
The 12 Girls who were away to Hampstead had a good 5-2 win in their first game of the season and player of the match Katie HOLDER scored a fine hat-trick whilst Mariona (Maz) HORNE-BATET struck a brace.
Another Girls team the Under 11's had a excellent 3-0 win at Royston with Charlotte GURNEY in fine form by scoring all three goals with some excellent finishing in front of goal.
