St Albans City Youth FC - Match Reports w/e 12th January 2020


The STACY 18 Girls were away to Flitwick Eagles Whites and they started well and took a 2-0 lead with two quick goals from Alice Benson following one-on-ones with the Flitwick keeper. The Eagles though hit back and scored three goals to go in at half time leading 3-2 and although the STACY Girls had a chance to equalize the Eagles scored another to lead 4-2. Late in the match Alice Benson scored another goal to complete her hat-trick and make the final score 4-3 to the Eagles. There was a joint player of the match and it went to Melissa Trulock and Alice Benson.

Meanwhile the STACY 17 Girls were at home to Leyton Orient Women and the Saints were in real goal-scoring mood as they went onto win 6-2. Scoring the goals was Mia Pinkham 2, Maz Horne-Batet 2 and two for player of the match Bora Cela.

In the league cup saw the STACY 15 Girls take on Herts Vipers who are top of the division above them and despite playing well and with a disadvantage of no subs saw the STACY Girls eventually lose 5-0. The player of the match went Hope Hume.

At half time saw the STACY Girls 14 South leading 1-0 away to Harpenden Colts Cobras with a goal from Jemima Avery and in the second period Jemima Avery scored another fine goal for the South to go on and win 2-0 with Isobel Corrigan being named player of the match.

At home to Meninas Belo Horizonte Girls were the STACY Girls 13 South and at half time saw them go in at the break 2-0 up with goals from Stella Ekblad-Piscitell and Elisa Hebblethwaite. In the second period the visitors hit back to earn themselves a late 2-2 draw. The player of the match was awarded to Ruby Littlechild who made a number of brave saves at the feet of the visitor’s attackers.

Playing Hitchin Belles Blues were the STACY Girls 12 North and the match was between two evenly matched teams, but the North did not take their chances and finally they lost 3-0 with two of the goals coming late on. The player of the match went to Michelle Lam.

The STACY Girls 12 Wildcats played Meninas Campinas Girls away and although the Wildcats pressed hard, they could not break down the home team's defence and so finally they lost by two goals to nil with Gracie Adams Avis being named player of the match.

Another team playing a squad from Meninas were the STACY Girls 11 Central and their opponents were named Meninas Sao Luis Girls and scoring a hat-trick for the Central girls was Rosin Cullen. Also scoring a few goals were Emily Ball 2, Lucy Hosty and Teghan Attwell with Mia De Trolio winning the player of the match award.

The STACY Girls 11 North also played a match yes you guessed it correctly against Meninas Fortaleza Girls, the fourth team from that club that the STACY Girls teams played against on Saturday and during this game saw Verity Lobina score a fine hat-trick. Other scorers during the match were Rachel Kincaid 2 Amy Hargreaves, Roxi Kosh and Sophie McMahon.

The STACY Girls 11 Wildcats were away to Ickenham and the young Saints were missing four players but they turned in a good performance with the star player amongst them being Zoe Eyles who gave a brilliant display in the centre of the defence and in doing so saw her certainly earn the player of the match award. 

Oh no we are back to Meninas Rio Girls for the fifth time and playing them a\way were the STACY Girls 10 Central and scoring a goal apiece for them were Olivia Wood and Jasmine Mercer whilst there was a joint player of the match and it was awarded to both Aasha Barker and Sophie Bridge.

At home to the Watford Ladies Hornets were the STACY Girls 10 Wildcats and scoring a fine goal for them was Lizzie Baylis with Ali Cowan being named as player of the match.

The STACY Girls 9 Romans played at home to Ware Girls and scoring a couple of well taken goals for the Saints was Lucy Leonard whilst Liriel Macey was named player of the match.

In the Lilac division of the HGPL saw the STACY Girls 9 Central play Boreham Wood 2000 at home and hitting a great hat-trick for the Central Girls was Nell McKinstry with Daisy Oaten also popping up with 3 goals as well. Poppy Miller scored a good goal as well and with all the Girls playing brilliantly it was not an easy decision to pick a player of the match but in the end, it was awarded to Nell McKinstry.

There was a special occasion on Saturday for the STACY Girls 8 Romans as in their match with Garston Ladies Jaguars saw three of the girls celebrate their 8th birthdays(plenty of cake afterwards I bet) and they were Amelia Follis, Olivia Williams and Ellie Roberts who also scored a goal as well to celebrate the day. Nadeen Kelifa-Young also got on the scoresheet with a brilliant hat-trick for the 8 Romans.

The STACY Girls 8 Central were at home Wheathampstead Wanderers Orca and once again getting in amongst the goals was Jess Kutcher with five. Also scoring a few goals was Lola Mackintosh with 4 whilst both Esme Dreyer and Jasmine Nooran both scored two apiece. There was a joint player of the match for the Central Girls and picking up the title was Charlotte Dennis and Lola Mackintosh.



Away to Codicote Youth Wolves were the 8 East and scoring a few goals for them were Sebastian Drummond with a hat-trick, George Sangster with a brace plus one goal apiece from James Griffiths and Hassan Nahaboo-Carranza.

The 8 South were at home to Bury Rangers Blacks which saw Adam Davies score his first ever hat-trick for the 8 South team whilst Finley Cullen scored two. Making remarkable saves in goal were keepers Adam Davies and Jonah Herron who took it turns between the sticks.

Alex Faldo, Archie Brown and Orla Henry all scored a goal each for the 8 West in their match at home to Wheathampstead Wanderers Sharks.

The 9 Lions played at home to the 9 South and Joshua Jury scored a goal for the 9 Lions whilst Toby Sumner quickly replied for the 9 South. Also scoring goals during the match were Tristan Francis, Harry Turnbull, another one for Joshua Jury whilst Daniel Davenport who was named man of the match also scored a goal as he pushed forward and found the back of the net with a sizzler.

Playing Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires at home were the 10 North with Orazio Finco scoring his goal for the club whilst man of the match Ollie Robinson gave a great goalkeeping display. Well done both of them.

At home to Bury Rangers were the 10 South and hitting five goals for the South was Nathaniel Faldo whilst Finn Henry scored 2  and Julian Jordan, Ashton Balding and Finlay Seabrook all scored one each.

The 10 Orient played away to Ware Youth Stripes and Orient turned in a fine battling performance with goals from Austin Shepherd and Louis Chen which was a well struck effort. Playing well were Nathaniel Parsons and Harry Dennis.

Away to Wheathampstead Wanderers Sharks were the 11 East and scoring a great for the East was Will John whilst goalkeeper Seth Coetzee made some great saves to earn man of the match.

The 11 North had a good match at home to Bury Rangers Red which was their first this year and getting on the score sheet were Jago Elliot Andrew, Oliver Ajaegbu, Josh Cassidy, Eddie Johnson and Zac Iman.



We start off with the 18 West who played away to Berkhamsted Raiders Purple and after the lead exchanged hands a few times, but it all ended all square at 3-3. Scoring the goals were Gideon Rowland with 2 and Adam Johnson with one.

In a division 4 of the WHYL saw the 18 East play away to St Albans Rangers and they returned with a convincing 8-0 victory. Leading the goalscorers was Gowt Selvarajah with 4 goals who scored the first three goals whilst Louis Postema scored two and both Josh Killick and Jari Quesada-Thorn with a tap in both scored one each. The man of the match went to Emerson Smith who was making a rare turn out and also a welcome return to form at right back.

At home to Berkhamsted Raiders Blue were the 16 South and they won 3-1 with goals from Anashe Sithole, Charlie More and Alex Laking-Jerez who was also voted man of the match. 

Playing Bushey & Oxhey Cougars at home were the 15 West and they finally lost 2-1 after a very close and tight game with Finn Geoghegan scoring the West's only goal and with Flynn Sweeney picking up the man of the match title.

In the challenge cup 2nd round saw the 14 West take on Watford Youth Sports Red and with Freddie Penford in fine form saw him scoring a fantastic hat-trick in the West's 8-1 victory. The other scorers for the West were Charlie Clark 2, Theo Robertson, Isaac Templeton and Zack Parry, who rapped home his goal from penalty spot.

The 14 Orient lost 6-0 at home to Berkhamsted Raiders Green with the nippy Harley Jack being named man of the match.

In the Junior Plate semi-final saw the 14 Central lose 3-0 away to Chipperfield with Aaron Lota picking up the match award.

The 14 Boreal won 2-1 at home to Harpenden Colts Spitfires with the visitors scoring a late consolation after the 14 Boreal had been in charge for most of the match. Scoring the goals for the Saints were Amos Petric and Jackson McArthur whilst Max Fearey was voted man of the match for relentless receiving balls in the muddy midfield and also making the Spitfires keeper life difficult by supplying the Boreal forwards with some great passes.

The 13 Arrows lost 2-1 Wheathampstead Wanderers Tigers with Fin Murphy scoring the Arrows goal which was the only one to find the target. The man of the match was awarded to the hard-working defender Cathal Gleeson.

Dean Blandon scored the only goal for the 13 Central in their home match with Nascot Wood Rangers which saw them lose 4-1 with Michael Federico being named as man of the match.

At home to Hemel Youth White were the 13 West and they stormed to 8-2 victory with six different goalscorers and leading them were Charlie Rose and Josh Ladyman with two apiece. The other scorers were Jasper Button, Thomas Kerby, Harry Gaines and Max Winders.

There was no such joy for the 13 Dragons as they lost 5-2 away to Herons with Michael Napier and Harry Pearce scoring the Dragons goals whilst Joshua Francois was named man of the match.

The 12 Centurions played Hemel Athletic at home and won 8-4 with Jayden Wright being in tip top form by scoring 4 of the goals. The other scorers were Seth Connolly, Tom Keeman, James McCluskey and Benny Jeffery.

In the Intermediate League Cup quarterfinal saw the 12 Orient win 3-0 against Evergreen Youth Hawks with a goal apiece from Morgan Francis, Alfie Long and Adam Lorman whilst Louis Kemp was named as man of the match.

Finn Wilson scored the only goal for the 12 South in their 3-1 home defeat by Chipperfield.

The 12 West lost 3-0 at home to Harpenden Colts Saints with Xavier McComb winning the man of the award for the 12 West.



The 18 Central only had 12 players available for their away match at Omonia Youth Green due to lack of player availability and during the match one these picked up an injury and so the Central team having no subs gradually saw their tired legs begin to take their toll so they were left with no fire power up front. Despite the match being very close for most of the time the 18 Central eventually lost 4-0 and being voted the man of the match by the opposition and their coach was the Saints goalkeeper Joe Moss who made quite a few good saves during the game.

The 16 East lost 4-2 at home to Croxley Green Black whilst the 14 South won 7-1 away at Edgware Tigers but alas, I have no more info so sorry folks I cannot give you the goalscorers for both of these matches.

In the county cup saw the 13 Orient win 2-1 away to Cheshunt Black with Harry Rumble scoring the first goal following a corner kick whilst Alex Hails scored the second Orient goal with a well taken finish. Although Cheshunt pressed for an equalizer the Orient defence defended well along with keeper Vicente Luciani who was just simply outstanding between the sticks. Ed Purple just pipped fellow midfielder maestro Bertie Postema for the man of the match award.

The 13 Spartans played at home to London Colney Colts Blue and following a very high scoring match saw the Spartans march on to victory with a 5-4 win. Scoring the goals for the Spartans was Dewayne Mitchell with a fine hat-trick and then came Felix Mensah and Zevik Cowell with one apiece. The man of the match was awarded to Ablo Webb.

The 12 Victoria drew 1-1 at home to London Colney Colts Blue with Luca Ward scoring for Victoria after a goalmouth scramble with Eli Foxcroft was named man of the match after working real hard and always looking to find a team mate. Goalkeeping duo Aaron Holsborough and Thomas Hope made multiple saves during the game to keep the score down.

In the Red division of the WFL saw the 11 West play West Herts Stags away and there were goals for the West from Lennon McKessick 2, Jack Johnson, Noah Brooks, Otis Lau-Johnston plus one from man of the match Freddie Nelson-Thorpe.
