St Albans City Youth FC - Match Reports w/e 10th March 2019



The 18 E.J.A. played a Midweek Cup match away at Barking 18 EJA and won 3-1 with two goals from BILLY OWEN and one from man of the match Jonny Brown and this win now sees them play Colchester Utd Under 16's Academy in the next round.

The 14 EJA were away to Hitchin Town and won 2-1 despite being 1-0 down early in the first half but just before the break SAM EVANS made a great solo run whereupon he finished in style for an excellent equaliser. In the second half the Saints continued to play some lovely passing terrific fast attacking football despite the very windy conditions and then very late in the game saw the Saints win a free kick which was taken by FINLAY EAMES-ILLINGWORTH and his sizzling effort flew into the top right corner to give the 14 EJA a 2-1 win.



In the Intermediate Cup round 2 match saw the 18 North play away to Evergreen Youth Colts and after a tight first half saw the North eventually lose 4-2 with Jack Hughes and Henry Piekarczyk scoring the goals for the young Saints.

The Hemel Town Blue certainly got the blues when they lost 6-1 away to 18 Orient with Kai Takahashi scoring a fantastic hat-trick to get the Saints on their way. The other scorers were Finley Lufbery with a brace whilst Zach Quinn got one whilst Rocco Rahho was named man of the match for the hard work he was doing in the midfield.

Away to Croxley Green White were the 16 Central and they were in goal scoring form with a 7-1 victory with six different goal scorers. Scoring the goals were Jack Percy 2, Myles Donkin, Ollie Gilmour, Louis Johnston, Matt Roome and man of the match Josh Penning who had a great game at right back.

The 16 Orient beat the 16 West 3-1 away with two goals from Harry Turner and one from Samuel Beasley.

Away to Harpenden Colts Hawks saw the 15 Boreal win 4-1 with two goals from Tom Randall plus singles from George Hall and George Pedder with Ralf Murray who had a fine game in goal being named man of the match.

At home to Berkhamsted Raiders Green were the 14 South and man of the match Oliver Wynne scored two cracking goals in the first half whilst both Mackenzie Gibson and N. Sivakumar scored one each to set the North on their way to a 4-2 victory.

The 13 Central won 2-0 at home to Watford Youth Sports with a fine goal from Sam Hunt and an even better one from the Central man of the match Tarron Tank.

In the quarter-final of the WHYL Challenge Cup saw the 13 Victoria play FC Hemel and by the final whistle saw the Victoria Saints win by five goals to two to move into the semi-finals. Scoring the goals for Victoria were R J, Ashton Latter, Ollie Mullen plus two from man of the match Freddie Roe.

The 13 West were at home to their fellow club mates the 13 Orient and in a match, which saw plenty of goals saw the West finally run-out winners 7-4. Charlie Clark for the West scored a great hat-trick whilst there were further goals from Dylan Doyle, Ben Mitchell, Isaac Templeton whilst the man of the match Archie Connolly also popped up one goal as well. No info from the Orient.

Away to Croxley Green White were the 12 Arrows and despite the having a few shots on goal they just could not find the gold on the target, but the hosts did and won 3-0 with Ollie Denyer for the Arrows winning the man of the match title.

The 12 West played a double header against the 12 Central and in the first match saw the West win 3-2 with goals from Jasper Button, Casey Fletcher and Charlie Rose whilst for Central saw their man of the match Stephen Tchoudi score both goals. In the next game saw the match end in a 1-1 draw with Charlie Rose scoring for the West whilst once again it was Stephen Tchoudi who scored for Central with Elinge Mosima being named as their man of the match.

Also playing a double header were the 12 Dragons and their opponents were Berkhamsted Raiders Black and in both matches saw the Dragons win 1-0. In the first match it was Michael Napier who scored the goal whilst in the second game it was Dylan Norman who scored the goal. The man of the match in both matches for the Dragons was Ayaan Hussain who worked hard up front.



The 18 South were away to Maccabi London Lions White in round three of the Challenge Cup and after a tough game against arguably the best team in the county saw the 18 South emerge victorious 3-2 after extra time with Harrison Arnold scoring all three goals with a superb hat-trick against a team from the top division.

Away to Harvesters East in a Spring Plate Group D match saw the 18 Central win 6-1 with Hayden Tominey-Smith scoring a glorious hat-trick. scoring the other goals were Joshua Cross, Harry Peter and Alex Sharkey whilst the strong midfielder Tristan Edwards was named man of the match.

The 15 North lost 3-1 to Brady Maccabi Red in the Spring Shield whilst the 15 East lost 2-1 to Maccabi London Lions Blue and the 13 South beat Highgate & Muswell Hill Dynamo 3-2 but THAT IS ALL THE INFO I HAVE, Bad news for those teams.

The 12 Orient won 3-1 away to AC Finchley North with the Orient giving a battling performance in gale force wind with goals from Lucas Berry, Ollie Jay and a typical cracker from Bertie Postema with Oscar Noble being named man of the match after giving a brilliant display in midfield.

Away to Edmonton Rangers Dragons were the 12 Spartans and the Dragons roared to a 7-2 victory over the Spartans whose defensive wall was breached seven times. Scoring for the young Saints were Zevik Cowell, Dewayne Mitchell with the hard working Isam Jamil winning the man of the match award.

At home in the Purple Division saw the 12 Vikings lose heavily to Boreham Wood Crusaders with H. Gilroy scoring two goals and Samuel Calthrop scoring one for the Vikings.



Away to Bury Rangers Reds were the 8 South which saw them score six goals in an exciting game and scoring these goals for the South with some of them being fantastic team efforts were Toby Sumner 2, Toby Thompson, Evan Love, Elijah Bailey and Tom Greatorex. 

In a high scoring draw with both sides scoring seven goals saw the 8 Lions roar into action late on against Bury Rangers Whites at home and scoring the goals for the Lions were Tristan Mistry 2, Harry Turnbull, Joshua Jury and two from man of the match Daniel Davenport. In the last few seconds of the match saw Finlay Maguire score with a great strike for the final goal of the game.

The 9 North lost by quite a few goals to Wodson Park United in the Green Dave Wray Cup with the young Saints showing some battling resilience and an excellent team spirit against the beat team they have played this season and it was a tough cup tie.

Scoring the North's goal was the man of the match Nathan Payne.

The 9 South secured a place in the Dave Wray league cup final with a 4-2 home win over Bury Rangers in the White Division cup and scoring the goals for the South were Fin Henry 2, Sofiane Benadoud and Finlay Seabrook.

The 9 Orient who were in the Black League Cup won 4-3 at home after a very tight game against Welwyn Pegasus Cyans and after a wonderful performance saw Orient goalscorers being Austin Shepherd 2 and Harry Taylor 2. There were excellent displays from Alex Hooper and Zak Stamp for the Orient squad.

The score at half time was 2-2 in the Green Divisional Cup game between the 10 East who were at home to Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires with the East taking a 2-0 lead with goals Tom Luckhurst and Harry Murphy, but Welwyn hit back to make it 2-2 at the break. In the second half an outstanding free kick from Will John into the top corner and then a goal from Leo Hooper-Walter gave the East a well-deserved 4-2 win. 

 In the White League Cup saw the 10 Central trail 2-1 at the break away to Wheathampstead Wanderers Jaguars but the Central fought back in the second half for the game to end all square at 3-3. Scoring all three of the East's goals was the dynamic Joshua Gibson.

Away to Bury Rangers Whites saw the 10 North play in this final game of the White League Cup group games and with a 3-1 victory sees them move into the next round. Scoring the goals for the North was Oliver Ajaegbu, Olic Fan and then Zac Iman sealed the result and he celebrated with his trade mark gymnastic flips.

There was pressure on the 10 Romans in the last group Silver Divisional group cup tie with the Romans needing to beat Lemsford Leopards by two clear goals to reach the final. The match was 0-0 at the break but a super performance from the Romans in the second half saw them score 3 goals without reply to move into the final. Scoring the goals were Hari Boodhun with one and Theo Turley with 2 whilst the man of the match was awarded to goalkeeper Oscar Dennis-Darling who made a series of fine saves during the first half.

The 10 West who play in the 11 Green division drew 2-2 after being 2-0 down at half time away to Wheathampstead Wanderers Tigers with goals from Jack Burke and Will Stone with keeper Ollie Shadbolt being made man of the match.

Playing Arsenal Women at home were the 11 East and they scored six goals through Vincenzo Di Girgenti with 2 and singles from Leon Rainey, Matis Walton, Ben Wigmore plus one from man of the match Samuel Philpot. 

Away to Lemsford FC saw the 11 North score a few goals and they came from Simon Bobrowski 2, Charlie Yeo and one from the North's man of the match Jacob Standing (last man standing) whilst Ethan Evans had 3 assists(well done Ethan). 

Away to Wheathampstead saw Daniel Day score an excellent goal for the 11 West whilst giving a striking midfield display was man of the match George Lasbrey.

The 11 Victoria played the 11 South away and won 3-2 with goals from Aidan Keigher, Olly Mead and one from man of the match Luca Ward following a fine team performance. NO TEAM INFO FROM THE 11 SOUTH naughty boys, Tezza is not happy.



The 17 Girls trailed 2-0 at the break away at Bedwell Rangers Girls but they pulled a goal back in the second period when super sub Alice Bensen scored a cracker, but it proved not to be enough despite the Lady Saints putting on a lot of pressure on the Rangers defence, so the match ended 2-1 to Bedwell. The player of the match was given to the vocal captain of the 17 Girls Emily Sibley.

The 15 Girls won 1-0 at home to Watford Ladies Harts with a well finished first half strike from Nicole Plumb whilst the hard-working Megan Webb was named player of the match.

The 14 Girls at home to Potters Bar Crusaders Girls let slip a 3-1 lead at half time for the match to end finally 4-4 with Esme Hume scoring three of the Saints goals whilst Kiera Ward got the fourth. The player of the match for the 14 Girls went to goalkeeper Hope Hume.

The 13 Girls South were away to Berkhamsted Raiders Youth Girls Red who play two divisions above in the League Cup and at half time the South found themselves 1-0 down. In the second half they came out all guns firing and scored a tremendous equaliser through Jemima Avery to take the match to extra time. So, after five penalties each saw the 13 Girls South win 3-2 with Mia Simmonds, Maisie Humphreys and Jemima Avery all converting theirs to see them through to the next round. The player of the match WENT TO THE WHOLE TEAM.

Playing Kings Langley Girls Red at home were the 11 Girls after the fixture had been reversed with the Langley pitch being waterlogged saw the 11 Girls score three goals after a good performance and they came from Teagan Scarlett 2 and Rebecca Smith. The player of the match went to the strong defensive player Sophie Lerwill.

Sophie Bromwich was named player of the match for the 11 Girls Wildcats in their away game at Bedwell Rangers Girls Phoenix.

The 10 Girls Central played the 10 Girls North in a Pink Division league game and scoring the goals in this match were Enya Brewster with a brace whilst both Roisin Cullen and player of the match Alais Bell scored one each for the Central team.

The 10 Girls Wildcats played Berkhamsted Raiders Girls Orbi which saw Emily Gray score four great goals for the Wildcats whilst the player of the match Chloe Nuttall with great perseverance and resilience was rewarded with a superb goal.

At home to Tottenham Hotspur Ladies were the 8 Girls and scoring a few goals for them were Izzy Marriot with 2 whilst Lucy Leonard and Eva Barenthein both scored one each whilst the player of the match for the 8 Girls Rose Sharman scored an outstanding solo goal.

The 8 Girls played Meninas FC Salvador Girls the previous week and scoring two goals for them was Izzy Marriot whilst Lucy Leonard scored one.
