St Albans City Youth – Boys
The Under 18 West came out on top with a 6 – 4 win over Hemel Hempstead Red with goals from six different scorers, who were Sam Waters-Rathjen, Matt Keane, Archie Oliver, Yaku Stapleton and Adam Hazelwood. The final goal came from a fantastic free kick by Ellis Allan who was also named man of the match after a fine game in the back four.
In the league the Under 18 Warriors took on St Gregory’s and by half time the Saints were leading 6 – 0. With ten minutes to go the lead was 8 – 0 but then the visitors suddenly collapsed and the Saints scored a further seven goals to make the final score 15 – 0. The scorers were Joe Weaver 3, Stuart Peet 3, Nico De Olievia 3, Lewis Glasscoe 2, Joe Stone, Tom Blight, Jacob Ponte and Ed Anders.
Playing Bovingdon were the Under 18 Orient and by the final whistle the Saints had gone down 3 – 1. Scoring the Saints only goal was Owen Ladbrooke. Harry Reeves was named man of the match.
In the Challenge Cup 1st Round the Under 16 East won 5 – 1 against Hinton & Finchley Revolutions with two goals from Joe Vance plus singles from Ollie Pawlaczek, Ewan Brand and Cain Joseph. The man of the match went to Guiseppe Basile.
Also in the Challenge Cup and winning 5 – 0 were the Under 16 North who beat Hampstead. Scoring the goals were Alfie Booth, Curtis Finch, Euan McDonald, Gian Paolo Manzi and man of the match Hugh Gaffney.
Adam Purkiss scored the only goal for the Under 16 Orient as they lost 2 – 1 to Comets.
The Under 16 East played Mill End and despite keeping the half time score line down to 1 – 0 at half time, Mill End came good in the second half and won the game 9 – 0. The score could have been more if not for the outstanding display from the Saints keeper Ashley Ojuederie who was also named man of the match.
The points were shared between the Under 15 North and Everett Rovers with a 2 – 2 draw. Scoring for the North were Jack Hughes and Rob McKnee and Sam Day was named man of the match.
Man of the match Joe Newton was the hero for the Under 15 South as his hat trick helped them to a 3 – 2 home win over Berkhamsted Red.
The Under 15 West beat Harpenden Jaguars 4 – 0 with two goals from Kai Takahashi and one each from Harrison Bean and Matthew Nash. The man of the match was Tom Keating.
The Under 15 East played Garston Boys and went down 8 – 2 despite only being a goal down at half time. Scoring both goals for the East were Stephano Finco. The man of the match went to Daniel McGarry.
The Under 14 North played at home to Berkhamsted Red and after some fine attacking play the Saints won the game 6 – 1. Leading the line was Billy Owen 3, James Lawrence 2 and Dan Bannerjee. Midfielder Chris Rowe was named man of the match.
The Under 14 West had their first win of the season with a 4 – 1 victory over Evergreen thanks to goals from Adam Johnson, Will Shepherd, James Knapp and Stefan Martin.
Playing away to Croxley Green White the Under 14 Orient scored three goals but it was not enough as they went down 5 – 3. The scorers for the Saints were Bly Wilding, Peter Rock and Louis McNamara. Dylan Handscombe was named man of the match.
The Under 13 North were on fire as they romped to a fine 5 – 1 win away to Watford Sports. Ronaldinho lookalike Diego Pazaran-Butler showed off his tricks and scored two goals, Freddie Collins and Oliver Merriden also scored one each and new midfield sensation Adam Leslie also scored.
The Under 13 South played away to Boreham Wood but turned in a below par performance as they lost the game.
Playing at home to Aston Clinton the Under 13 Orient recorded a 5 – 0 win with man of the match Ollie Gilmour scoring a first half hat trick. Second half goals from Max Varney and Daniel Breeze sealed the win.
The Under 13 East had a great 10 – 3 home win over Brady Maccabi with James Barwick leading the way with three goals. The other goals were scored by Muba Kiomone 2, Max Bowman 2, Jack Jennings, Nasir Zaman and Benjamin Heeley. The man of the match was Max Bowman.
The Under 13 Central played at home to EB Lions and a goal from Louis Johnston opened the scoring after twenty minutes which helped the Central go on to win 7 – 2. The other goals came from Matt Roome 3 and Daniel Williams 3. Left back Ben Sommerbauer was named man of the match.
The Under 12 West played away to Whetstone Wanderers Tigers, but it was the Tigers who got there claws out beating the Saints 7 – 3. The Saints goals were scored by Elliot Pate, Tomas Robertson and Ben Wick.
The Under 12 North lost by the odd goal 4 – 3 to Kings Langley. Scoring the goals for the Saints were Louis Sampson 3 and Sam McKenna. The man of the match went to Joe Knee.
The Under 12 South cruised to a 4 – 1 victory over Bovingdon with star man George Sippetts (Just like his Dad) scoring a great hat trick, he also picked up the man of the match title. The Souths fourth goal was scored by Danny Fowler.
The Under 12 East Blues played Edmonton Hawks and at half time they were leading 4 – 0 with the pick of the goals being a sizzler from Lorenzo Johnson right on the stroke of half time. In the second half the young saints really turned it on to finish the match 11 – 0 winners. Scoring the goals were Jack Raffo 2, Tom Merritt 2, Dan Gant, Aiden Smith, Nico Mohan, Joe Stone plus another goal from Lorenzo Johnson taking his tally for the match to two. Another goal everyone was talking about was a bullet header from a corner kick by Harry Jenkins (his first for the club).
Next up was the Under 12 East Yellows who found themselves 3 – 0 until they found there scoring form. Firstly, William Miller scored a fine goal, then Oscar Evans cut into the box and drove the ball home to make it 3 – 2. It was nearly 3 – 3 when Oscar Evans struck a 30-yard free kick which hit the post. The scorline remained at 3 – 2 to the Echoes despite the attacks from the Yellows. The most outstanding player was their keeper Mo Moutiq who made several great saves throughout the game.
The Under 11 North played away to Berkhamsted Raiders, there were goals from Harrison Shaw 2, Jake Berry, Joseph Beardon, Finlay Eames-Illingworth plus one own goal.
The Under 11 South played Cheshunt with Louis Warren scoring.
The Under 11 East played Welwyn Pegasus Sapphires. James Nash, who was making his debut, scored.
There were plenty of goals in the game between the Under 11 West and Welwyn Pegasus Azures. Scoring were Finaly Rees 2, Leo Tasheva 2 who was also man of the match and one goal from Jakey Chaudhry.
The Under 10 West played their club mates the Under 10 South and it ended up very close. Joint man of the match Charlie Clark scored four goals (two in the space of two minutes). The South hit back with before another goal from Charlie Clark. The other joint man of the match was Issac Templeton. Scoring for the South was William Houghton 2 and Jed Ejjayha. Toby Joyce was named man of the match for the South.
The Under 10 East played Lemsford Youth with two goals from Jensen Dean and then singles from Harry Stone and Davidi Iacobucci.
The Under 10 Victoria played Chorleywood and they also hit the woodwork on several occasions. Martin Flore and Oscar Bell scored two goals. The man of the match went to Noor Dajani.
The Under 10 Central played Harlow Eagles.Scoring the goals were Angus Twidell 2, Matt Penfold 2 and Oliver Taylor. Ben Coulling was named man of the match.
Playing away to Hatfield Town Youth were the Under 10 South there were goals from Callum Crowther and man of the match Luca Hinton.
Goals from Louis Daly and Adam Gardner for the Under 9 North against Cheshunt. Jack Cottingham was named man of the match.
The Under 9 South played Broxbourne. Scoring the goals were Owen Weaver 2, George Robertson, Josh Smith plus one from Man of the match Asa Stewart-Harris.
Will Antcliffe struck a hat trick for the Under 9 East in their match with Hoddesdon. Other goals came from man of the match Johnny Bennett with two plus a goal each for Tom Flower and Tom Jennings.
The Under 9 West and the Under 9 Central played Echoes Youth and Chorleywood respectively. The man of the match for the West was Josh Ladyman and for the Central it went to Tyler Hall.
Playing Evergreen were the Under 9 Orient and scoring their goal was Alex Hails with a penalty. The man of the match went to Lucas Berry.
The Under 9 Arrows played Hurst Drive and there were goals from Arthur McLaughlin 2, Ben Browning and Callum Howells. The Saints were playing for their team mate Oscar Noble who is out for several weeks after breaking his wrist. The man of the match went to keeper Max Butterworth whilst Leon Negus-Roman also had a good game in defence.
The Under 9 Romans played club mates the Under 9 Dragons in the mid Herts Rural Minors League fixture and it was an entertaining game . Scoring the goals for the Romans were Ryan Kennedy 3, Jack Reeve plus one own goal. For the Dragons the goals were scored by man of the match Joshua Francois 3 and Dylan Norman.
Playing away to Broomfield Whites were the Under 9 Saxons with goals from Ailbe Tidd 2, Luca Callegari and Fin Murphy.
Now for the fun matches, the Under 8 South played Welwyn Pegasus and keeper Jacob Allen was named man of the match.
For the Under 8 North Ethan Evans scored a fine goal in their fun game with Hertford Harts.
The Under 8 East played Welwyn Cobalts and there were goals from Arthur Vessey 2 Samuel Philpot and William Dorey.
The Under 16 Girls North were missing a few players due to injury and Duke of Edinburgh awards but they still gave Enfield a good game losing the game 5 – 2. Scoring for the North were Shauna Smith and Zoe Thomas.
Playing at home to Watford Harts saw the Under 16 Girls South win 4 – 3 after and exciting end to end game. Scoring the Saints goals were Abby Smith, Abby Durrant, Elysia Rams-Dale plus one from player of the match Rosie McGahan.
Both teams had the chances but it was a strong Garston Ladies team who finally found the net and beat the Under 15 Girls South 2 – 0. Player of the match was keeper Emily Sibley who pulled off some amazing saves during the game.
It was a great all round team performance from the Under 15 Girls North as they beat Hitchin Belles 2 – 1 with two sizzling goals from Maddy Donaldson in the first half. Although Hitchin hit a late goal they could do nothing to stop the Saints from taking all the points. The player of the match went to Jessica Leigh.
The Under 14 Girls lost 3 – 1 away to Bishop Stortford Girls with joint player of the match Bo Westcombe-Evans scoring their goal. The other player of the match was Amy Cowan.
Playing away to Harvesters Blue saw the under 13 Girls fight out an exciting 4 – 4 draw with player of the match Mia Pinkham scoring two goals, there was also a goal each for Jess Simpson and Laura Guiford.
A goal from player of the match Caitlin Watkins was good enough to give the Under 12 Girls South a 1 – 0 home win over Bury Rangers.
Despite Susie Weidmann playing out of her skin the Under 12 Girls North lost to Stevenage Girls.
The Under 8 Girls played a fun game with Stevenage Borough. Player of the match Maya Deans scored six goals and Laila Brown scored two.
