Special Olympics World Games Success for St Albans Pair
More Special Olympics success for St Albans City Youth and St Albans City FC as the GB Special Olympics Football team pick up the gold medal thanks to a 3 – 1 victory in the final over Australia at the Special Olympics World Games, which are being held in the United Arab Emirates.

Representing Great Britain on the pitch was St Albans City Youth’s very own Tom Ward, but the St Albans involvement did not end with Tom, we also had another key part of the team, helping to get the players fit, trained and organised was St Albans City Youth and now Great Britain Assist coach Liam Dwyer. During the tournament both Liam and Tom became regulars on the small screen with appearances in the World Games reports on various news programmes.
At the previous Special Olympics World Games, in 2015, held in Los Angeles, St Albans City Youth had three players in the team that also picked up the gold medal, they were Matthew Dodds, Ben Kelly and Sean Aaron Ellingham back in 2015.
