City Youth in the Community
At City Youths Summer Holiday Coaching Camp at Highfield Park 134 young people came to applaud City Youths very own Ben Kelly who has just returned from the World Games in LA with his Team GB Gold Medal for 11v11 Football.
Ben is a St Albans City Youth and Special Olympics athlete. He represented Team GB in the Special Olympics Football Team and they were unbeaten after 8 matches. In the final they drew 3-3, then extra time and after that the dreaded penalties. Ben Kelly (of course) scored the winning penalty to the delight of his team.
Ben said today " The highlight of the trip was the opening ceremony in front of 60,000 people including some superstars from around the world. The football matches came very quickly one game after another and the winning has not fully sunk in yet. Matt Dodds and Sean Ellingham also represented St Albans City in USA and performed very well with Matt also scoring in the final."
City Youth Chair of Trustee Mervyn Morgan said " We are so proud of the lads. Well done you are a credit to St Albans City Youth and Special Olympic"
The pictures show Ben attending the St Albans City Youth Community Camps earlier today. The Summer Camps are supported by The PFA and The Premiership via the Conference Trust Grant Scheme.
