St Albans City Youth FC joins with the whole football community in Hertfordshire in mourning the passing of Norman Appleby.

A superb referee himself, Norman served the Herts County League, the HGFPL,  the Watford Friendly League and the Youth division of the Herts FA in roles covering referee administration and appointments. He will also always be associated with the huge contribution he made to Harvesters FC.

More importantly, he was a friend to so many who valued his enthusiasm, his generosity with his time and his willingness to support others.

Our thoughts are with Norman's family at this desperately sad time.
