On Wednesday 11th April, following another successful day at the clubs Easter coaching camp, a range of coaches from City Youth came together to play an in-house match! Young coaches, parent managers, disability section, senior and ladies section coaches all came together to form two teams & attempt to use all that coaching knowledge to tactically outwit each other…
One side was managed by Bradley Bennett, a senior coach at the club for over 4 years now. The other by Tom Johnson, a product of the young coaches scheme who has been involved with the club for almost 3 years.
Teams were bolstered with ‘experience’ from the likes of U14s manager Jason Illingworth and U11s manager Ian Morgan. We even had Ben Killner taking a few pictures for the City Youth archive!
In a thrilling display of end to end football Tom Johnsons side took a 2-0 lead, only for Brad Bennetts side to claw it back to 3-2 before a final goal being scored in the last few minutes to make a 3-3 draw resulting in the decision of the match to go down to penalties with Brad Bennetts side coming out on top.
The coaches made a charitable donation to play in the game, totaling to over £50 which will be forwarded to the club and donated to a chosen charity at the end of the season.
The club hopes this to become an annual event, bringing a range of coaches together, offering them a chance to show of some skills and aid the club in charitable donations. Top coaches through ought the season will be selected to manage & pick the two sides.
