Annual City Youth Coaches v Managers Charity Match 2019

Annual City Youth Coaches v Managers Charity Match

The club held it’s second (but first official) annual coaches v managers charity match on Wednesday 10th April. Following a hugely successful first 3 days at the clubs Easter Camp, a number of the young coaches who had been working at the Easter Camp that day & other coaches from the club formed a team to face up against a mixture of the clubs’ managers.

The game took place on Samuel Ryder Academy’s brand new 3G AstroTurf, a huge thank you to Samuel Ryder for allowing us use of the pitch for this event!

With fantastic weather for several spectators consisting of mainly of city youth players and family members the game got underway around 4.20pm, consisting of 2 x 40-minute halves. The managers side had the pleasure of being managed by non-other than Stuart Fennel (he was on his best behaviour), and the coaches team was managed by City Youth Community Manager, Julius Ilori.

Experience triumphed this year, with the managers winning 4-2, their goals coming from Michael Reynolds x2, Andy Paine & Stuart Evans. The scorers for the coaches were Alfie Boswell & Chris Samways.

The match raised over £110 to be placed into a charity pot on which we hope to build up funds with other events, to donate to a chosen charity.

We hope the game it also acted as a way for coaches and managers to meet not only each other but also others within the club.

It was nice to hear comments from managers saying how good it felt to put on a city youth shirt and play after so many years!

The next Coaches v Managers game will take place on a Wednesday in Easter 2020, so keep your eyes peeled!
