St Albans City Youth – Boys

 

Under 18

 

The Under 18 West played Acorn Raiders and put their opponents to flight with a 5-1 win. Scoring the goals for the Saints were Ashley Rosson, Adam Hazelwood, Sam Waters-Rathjen, Matt Hubbard and one from man of the match Matt Keane.

 

In the next game the scoreline was reversed when the Under 18 Orient lost 5 – 1 to Hemel Aces with Owen Ladbrook scoring the orients goal whilst central midfielder Zac Moore was named man of the match.

 

Playing away to Croxley Green were the Under 17 West and they fought out an exciting 3 – 3 draw with two goals from man of the match Billy Lawrence plus a single from Harry Deacon.

 

Under 16

 

The Under 16 East WFL won 2 – 0 at London Colney Colts with goals from Cain Joseph and a world class strike from Tayler Fennel. Having another good game at right back was man of the match Gio Basile.

 

Playing at home to Whetstone Wanderers Panthers were the Under 16 North and they had a good win four goals to nil. Curtis Finch scored the first goal and attacking midfielder and man of the match Hugh Gaffney netted the second. The other two goals were scored by James McCallum and Gianpaulo Manzi.

 

Steven Gee scored the Under 16 Central’s consolation goal as they went down 7 – 1 at home to Comet Cougars. Jake Holsworth was named man of the match.

 

The Under 16 South lost 2 – 0 to Herons Black with the hard working Jack Stein being named man of the match.

 

Under 15

 

Playing away to Northwood in the WFL Challenge Cup were the Under 15 Orient and they had a good 2 – 0 win with goals from Harry Easterby and Lewis McCall. The man of the match went to Dan Ashenhurst who was one of the most consistent performers on the pitch.

 

The Under 15 West picked up three points away to Chorleywood Common Lancers with goals from Kai Takahashi Casey Akajioyi and Zach Quinn who was also named as man of the match in their 3 – 0 victory.

 

Under 14

 

Playing at home to Whetstone Wanderers Pumas saw the Under 14 North win 4 – 2 with Billy Owen scoring two goals in the first half and then another two in the second to take his tally for the match to four goals. The man of the match went to Thomas Gell.

 

The Under 14 Orient lost their home game to Aston Clinton Colts 6 – 3 with Peter Rock scoring two of the Saints goals and Bly Wilding scored the third goal. The tireless midfielder Sam Doughty was named man of the match.

 

Under 13

 

Playing at home to AC Finchley were the Under 13 South and a goal from Will Baynham, just before half time made it 1 – 1. Into the second half a close range strike from Tommy Dodds put the South 2 – 1 up. Then an effort from Connor Kelly, who caught the keeper off the line, went just wide of the target. This must have spurred the visitors on as they scored two goals to win the game 3 – 2. Central midfielder Louis Baker-Madec was named man of the match.

 

The Under 13 Central played a friendly away to Everett Rovers (who play in the Division above) and Central gave a great performance to record an excellent 2 – 1 victory. The scorers were Daniel Williams and Alex Sommerbauer. The man of the match was Joshua Penning.

 

Two goals from Max Bowman plus one from Nasir Zaman gave the Under 13 East a 3 – 1 win over Brady Maccabi. Charlie Barnett was named man of the match.

 

Under 12

 

The Under 12 North were trailing 1 – 0 at half time at home to Abbots Youth Blue and then the visitors scored two more goals for the Saints to find themselves 3 – 0 down. The young saints then staged a mini fight back with goals from Louie Sampson and Daniel Curran for the match to end 3 – 2. The man of the match went to Ryan Corcoran who played the first half in midfield and then went into goal for the second half.

 

At home to Alytbelzie F.C. saw the Under 12 East Blue go in at the break 2 – 0 up with two goals from Lorenzo Johnson, the second of which was a brilliant diving header following a right wing cross from Harry Jenkins. In the second half Lorenzo Johnson scored two more goals to take his tally to four as the Blues finally won the game 5 – 2. Jamie Hilton scored the fifth goal with a header whilst Jack Jacobs nearly added to the tally but the ball went wide. Ethan Zybitz was named as the man of the match.

 

Now we come to the non-competitive games.

 

Under 11

 

The Under 11 South played Welwyn Pegasus and Charlie Johnson scored a goal for the Saints.

 

The Under 11 east played Potters Bar Crusaders Raiders and James Nash scored.

 

The Under 11 West played a good game with Clodan Youth White and man of the match Leo Tashev scored for the Saints.

 

Under 10

 

The Under 10 South played a good match with Lemsford Youth with Jed Ejjayha scoring and Charlie Easterby being named man of the match.

 

The Under 10 Central played Stevenage Flamingos and man of the match Akere Ngu scored for the Saints.

 

Under 9

 

The Under 9 North played Ware Lions and there were goals from Adam Gardner 2, Noah Butler and Antonio Desiderio.

 

The Under 9 Arrows played Harlow Town Harriers with goals from Oliver Ray, Louis Godfrey, Ben Browning, Arthur McLaughlin and one from man of the match Oscar Noble.

 

The Under 9 South played away at Sumners Youth and there were goals from Owen Weaver and man of the match Steven Jacobs with two breakaway goals.

 

The Under 9 East played Bengeo Tigers Bengals, Tom Jennings, Will Antcliffe and Johnny Bennett scored. The man of the match went to Nathan Kleiner-Mann.

 

The Under 9 Dragons played Hurst Drive with Mattie Verdier being named man of the match.

 

The Under 9 Romans played Nazeing Youth and the Under 9 Saxons played Elite Feet Southgate Lions.

 

St Albans City Youth – Girls

 

Under 16

 

The Under 16 Girls North played Luton Ladies and although they Saints could only field a depleted side they still gave a good account as they went down 6 – 1. Scoring their consolation goal was Emily Schofield with a tremendous strike which earned her the player of the match award.

 

Under 15

 

Kira Close notched a well-deserved equaliser for the Under 15 Girls South in their match with Harvesters just before the break. In a close game Harvesters snatched a late winner to win the game 2 – 1. The player of the match was striker Chloe Dearmun.

 

Under 14

 

The Under 14 Girls played Knebworth in an end to end game which ended 3 – 3. The scorers for the Saints were Hannah McCorkindale, Bo Westcombe-Fletcher and Illinca Moraru who was also joint player of the match along with Nicola Lang.

 

Under 13

 

The Under 13 Girls played away to Herts Girls and after a good game by both teams the Saints came away as 9 – 2 winners. The goals were scored by Grace Barker-Roberts 2, Mariona Horne-Batet and Six goals from Mia Pickham.

 

Under 12

 

Playing away to Garston Jaguars saw the Under 12 Girls South lose 4 – 2 with Zoe Cowan scoring both of the Saints goals. The player of the match went to keeper Katie Hamm who was excellent in goal.

 

Under 11

 

The Under 11 Girls South played away to Garston Ladies Lions in a non-competitive game and Gabriela Templeman-Gamboa scored for the Saints.

 

Under 9

 

The Under 9 South played Berkhamsted Raiders and the player of the match went to Florence Tatlock.

 

Under 8

 

The Under 8 Girls played away to Evergreen Ladies in a non-competitive match and there were goals from Sophie Birkett 2, Emma Bracey, Laila Brown 4, Grace Gauthier 2, Olive Jones, Maya Deans 3 and Rebecca Smith.
