Barclays Bank, St Albans employees Sue Lobban, Wendy Smith and Steve Roberts took part in recent fundraising events in aid of St Albans City Youth FC.
Thanks to their support Barclays have now raised over £15,000 for the charity that offers boys, girls and children with special needs the opportunity to play organised sport.
The fundraising involved selling cups of tea, making candy floss as well as auctioning England memorabilia. Barclays then doubled the money collected as part of the Barclays Community investment programme £ for £ matched funding scheme.

Sue Lobban who works in the St Peters Street office of Barclays says “I really enjoyed the event, it was a lot of fun and it is great to raise so much money for this charity for the 3rd year running. It is fantastic that my employer supports and matched the funding raised on the stall I ran.”
The money raised this year will help to pay for the club coaching programme for six form students. This programme sees the students going into local primary schools delivering sports coaching and becoming role models. In return the club offers the students a coaching accreditation. In 2010/11 the club hopes to employ a full time apprentice to oversee the community coaching programme.
Dan Rogers from St Albans City Youth says “I have been training my Special needs players to become community coaches. I could not have done this without the fantastic support of Barclays Bank”
