The St Albans City Youth female coaches hosted a festival for the young girl teams from Charter standard football clubs across Hertfordshire. For many this was the first experience of playing in a tournament. Teams from St Albans City Youth. Bedwell. Bury Rangers, Kings Langley Hemel Comets and Bishops Stortford took part.
The coaches were helped and encouraged by Louisa Suff from Herts FA and Steph Whitaker, Gordon Graham and Sam Mardle from St Albans City Youth.
I would again like to say a big thank you to St Albans City Youth FC, their coaches and managers and the Garden Fields School volunteers for helping to organise such a well run festival and ensuring that the morning not only ran on time but also created a great environment for the girls to play football in.
Festivals like these provide the girls with opportunities to play competitive but friendly games against others of the same standard or slightly higher, to keep them interested and motivated in the game whilst finding their feet in the sport at a young age when they’re not playing week in week out. It’s also a fantastic opportunity for the parents to see firsthand how much time, effort and support goes into girls football, especially as this was probably the first festival they may have been too.
